FAQ'S
This page will answer some of the most common questions about our carpet cleaning service regarding scheduling and maintenance issues.
Will cleaning my carpet improve the indoor air quality and remove dust mites? Yes. We respect our privacy and your right to live in a clean and healthy environment. It is our goal at SuperClean Carpet Care to enhance your indoor air environment by removing as many airborne allergens with our cleaning process. Health professionals sometimes recommend that allergy and asthma patients remove carpet from their homes. But those recommendations are generally based on faulty assumptions. In fact, clean, dry, well-maintained carpet actually improves air quality. Carpet acts as a trap for airborne particles grounded through natural gravity.
Professional Testing Labs studied the distribution of airborne dust associated with normal activities on hard and soft flooring surfaces. Their findings showed that walking on hard surfaces disturbed more particles. These particles became airborne and entered the breathing zone. In contrast, carpeted surfaces trapped more particles so that walking disturbed fewer particles. Result: less dust in the breathing zone over carpeted floors.
Why do you need to know the square feet of my entire home? In order to ascertain the amount of equipment required to perform the services adequately and to give you the best price. We have no way of knowing without this information if your house is a small ranch or a large estate. We do not base our prices based on per square feet of carpet to be cleaned.
What is bait and switch?
Definition: Is a deceptive means of sales where a product is advertised at an attractive price (bait) then the price or product is altered to the advantage of the advertiser (switch). The bait and switch tactic is often fraudulent and illegal, but sometimes a bait and switch can be performed in a more subtle and therefore technically legal manner. Often the consumer will grudgingly accept the bait and switch offer after investing considerable time and money on a particular purchase. For example, the bait and switch tactic may be used in mortgage sales when one interest rate is promised, but a higher rate is offered at closing. Not every counter-offer should be construed as a bait and switch.
We abhor the practice of bait and switch. In some cases the customer may require a more intense cleaning which is referred to as restorative cleaning. This type of cleaning requires additional use of equipment, chemical and labor.

How often should carpets be professionally cleaned?
Most major carpet and carpet fiber manufacturers recommend carpets be professionally cleaned every 18 months in order to remove particulate soils that cause carpeting to wear prematurely and affect the appearance of the carpet. However the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), who takes a position of the carpet being cleaned for health and not appearance, recommends that carpets be cleaned annually. However, carpets that are subjected to extreme soiling or heavy use, particularly high-traffic areas, or carpets installed in homes occupied by persons with allergies or respiratory problems, require increased cleaning frequency.
Will a do-it-yourself carpet cleaning machine do the same job?
Actually the machine does not make the job good. The technician who is using the machine makes a difference. Well-trained technicians can do a good job with most types of equipment. With a well-trained technician, professional equipment and chemistry, and you get the best job. Homeowners who rent do-it-yourself equipment do not have the necessary training to understand that there are many different types of carpets and carpet fibers and the chemistry is not the same for all carpets and fibers. In addition there is no understanding of the protective coatings and stain resistant finishes that are built into today’s carpet.
Is the hot water extraction method good for carpets?
In order to maintain most carpets and carpet fibers, manufacturers require hot water extraction cleaning to be performed by a professional carpet cleaning company. Typically this system is performed with a self-contained cleaning unit that is mounted in a truck. The cleaner only brings into the home his cleaning tool and the hoses that connect the cleaning tool to the truck. The solution is applied to the carpet under pressure and at high temperatures which helps the carpets to dry fast. The chemistry that is used should leave no residue, so your carpet will not attract soil after cleaning. Properly used, this system should not penetrate through the carpet backing, creating over-wetting of the carpet.
How long will it take carpets to dry after professional cleaning?
Complete drying should occur between six to eight hours or less.
Can professional carpet cleaning lead to mold in the home?
It is doubtful that professional carpet cleaning could lead to mold growth in the home. First, mold needs an organic food source to grow on. Most carpet manufactured today is made of all-synthetic materials. Mold can grow on the soils in carpet which are organic, however the carpet would have to be severely wet for 48 to 72 hours for mold to start to grow.
Can professional carpet cleaning be harmful to allergies?
One of the benefits of having carpet as a floor covering is that it acts as a filter by filtering allergens out of the air. On hard surfaces these allergens lay on the surface until swept or mopped, which can cause the allergens to become airborne, entering the breathing zone, and creating exposure to the allergen. Carpet holds the allergen until it can be vacuumed or cleaned out. This is why it is important to vacuum and clean carpet frequently.
Why is the indoor environment important to our health?
Most people are aware that outdoor air pollution can damage their health, but may not know that indoor air pollution also can have significant effects. EPA studies of human exposure to air pollutants indicate that indoor air levels of many pollutants may be 2-5 times and, occasionally, more than 100 times higher than outdoor levels. read more

Why do I get a voice mail when I call?
In order to serve you more efficiently we use an automated telephone dispatch voice mail that sends the calls directly to one of our technicians when there is no one in the office. This also helps to filter out annoying calls from telemarketers.
I had a water leak in my home from one of my appliances a few days ago and now I am starting to smell an odor, could this be mildew?
It is hard to say without a physical examination. It is important to contact a professional immediately as time is of the essence and waiting could lead to further damage such as mold.
My pets have been doing their business on my carpet and now I can smell the urine, will cleaning remove the odor?
Sometimes yes. It is important that you have a professional examine these areas as soon as possible with an ultraviolet light to determine the extent of the problem. Just a simple cleaning can sometimes make the problem worse.
